Design the product before you build it

The most expensive way to learn that a feature does not work is to ship it. We design the product first: the flows, the screens, and the interactions, as high-fidelity mockups and clickable prototypes you can put in front of real users and stakeholders before engineering commits a sprint to it.

Our designs are made to be built. We think in components, states, and tokens, so what we hand off maps cleanly to a real front end instead of a pretty picture that falls apart the moment a developer opens it.

What this includes

  • Discovery. We map the problem, the users, and the jobs they are trying to get done, then turn that into the flows the product actually needs.
  • Information architecture. Sitemaps, user flows, and navigation models so the structure is sound before any pixels are pushed.
  • Wireframes. Fast, low-fidelity layouts to settle hierarchy and content priority without the distraction of color and polish.
  • High-fidelity mockups. Pixel-accurate screens in Figma, built on a real component library, a type scale, and color tokens drawn from your brand.
  • Interactive prototypes. Clickable flows with realistic transitions, so the experience can be tested and demoed, not just imagined.
  • Design system foundations. Reusable components, states (hover, focus, loading, empty, error), and tokens that hand off cleanly to engineering.
  • Responsive and accessible. Mobile, tablet, and desktop breakpoints, with color contrast and focus states that meet WCAG AA.

How we work

  1. Align. A working session to lock the problem, the audience, and what success looks like.
  2. Architect. Flows and wireframes for sign-off on structure before visuals.
  3. Design. High-fidelity screens for the core paths, iterated in the open so you watch it take shape.
  4. Prototype. We wire the screens into a clickable flow for testing and demos.
  5. Handoff. Organized Figma files, a component inventory, and the notes a developer needs to build it without guessing.

What you receive

  • A structured, developer-ready Figma file with named layers and components.
  • A clickable prototype link for testing, demos, and investor or stakeholder buy-in.
  • Reusable components and design tokens (color, type, spacing) as a starting system.
  • Annotated specs and redlines for the handoff to engineering.

Who this is for

Founders who need to show a credible product before raising or hiring, teams whose backlog has outrun their design capacity, and engineering groups who want a clear, agreed-upon target before they start writing code.

Why Jalapeno Labs

We are designers who also ship software, so our mockups are grounded in what is actually buildable and what it will cost. We will tell you when an interaction is elegant on screen but painful to engineer, and we will offer the version that is both. The same senior who designs your product can help the team build it, so nothing is lost in translation. Every hour is led by a senior and billed transparently.

Let us design it

Bring the idea, however rough. Tell us about your project on the contact page and we will scope the design work and a realistic timeline with you.
